New Trimester Information... The second trimester began on November 24 and goes until February. You child retook the STAR test and has a new points goal for AR for this second trimester. Many students have already earned points towards their goal. Great! Students need to read and test on their books on a regular basis so they do not get behind. It is always easier to stay on goal rather than try to play "catch-up".
Winter Weather
All students are required to wear boots after the first snowfall until an announcement is made in the spring (it is not necessarily after a melting as the weather is still cold and the ground too wet-thus an announcement will be made). If students choose to play in the snow or to be sitting on the ground, then they should wear snow pants as well. Snow pants are definitely recommended if students choose to play on the tar and to keep dry. Start reminding your child to bring coats, hats, and gloves!
Christmas Notes:
This time of year seems to just fly by! Our Christmas program is on December 18th. at 1 P.M. and at 7 P. M. As always, the students are putting a lot of hard work into their parts, and I am sure it will be a wonderful performance!
Our classroom party will be on Tuesday, Dec. 23rd. in the afternoon. A note will be coming home soon if your child will need to provide a treat/food item for our celebration.
Christmas vacation is from December 24th through January 2nd. This long break is a great time to read for AR, work on quick recall of math facts, or practice prayers.
Book-It and AR Reading:
If your child is at or beyond his or her AR goal at the end of each month, he or she is also eligible for a pizza certificate from Pizza Hut. This can be redeemed for a free personal pan pizza. The program runs from October through March.
Have a blessed Christmas season!
