Walter Rauschenbusch once said...

"The real joy of life is in its play. Play is anything we do for the joy and love of doing it. It is the real living of life with the feeling of freedom and self-expression. It is the business of childhood, and its continuation in later years is the prolongation of youth."

Howard Cosell once said...

"Sports is the toy department of human life."

Russell Pate once said...

"Youngsters are most likely to develop physically active lifestyles if they are provided with physical activity experiences they enjoy and with which they can be successful."

Physical Education Philosophy

We believe God uniquely creates each student for the purpose of fulfilling a divine plan for his or her life. We believe that a fit and health body equips each student to effectively carry out that plan.

Our purpose in teaching Physical Education to the students at St. Augustine's/ St. Mary's Cathedral is to provide the children with skills necessary to maintain a healthy and fit physical body.

Participation in PE helps develop large and small motor skills, cardiovascular endurance, coordination, rhythm and lead up skills for games. Students learn sportsmanship, courtesy, creative use of leisure time, and are taught the importance of maintaining fitness in their present and future lives. Physical education instills in the students an appreciation of and passion for movement.
